A Fantastic Three Days at Our Tesco Collection: Thank You!

Vicky and Judianne at the Tesco Winter Food collection

We’re delighted to share the incredible results from our three-day Tesco food collection — and to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made it such a success.

Two women standing inside a Tesco store, one wearing a green apron and the other in casual clothing, holding donation materials next to a display of fresh produce.

Over the course of the event, 36 dedicated volunteers worked tirelessly to collect, sort, weigh, and transport donations. Thanks to your hard work and teamwork, we gathered an amazing 2,266.71 kg of food, valued at £5,320.49. With Tesco’s generous 20% top-up, a further £1,064 will be added directly to our funds, giving us an even greater ability to support families as we approach Christmas.

This brilliant result truly shows how much can be achieved when people come together. Many hands really do make light work.

We also want to offer a very heartfelt thank you to the shoppers at Widnes Tesco. Time and time again, you show remarkable kindness and generosity. Your willingness to donate — whether a single item or a full bag — makes a real and immediate difference to local people in crisis. We could not do this without your support.

A few special thank you are also very well deserved:

To Our Drivers

At the end of each long day, you arrived ready to load, lift, and transport crate after crate to the warehouse — often making multiple journeys. Your work goes far beyond driving, and we are deeply grateful for everything you do.

To Vicky

Thank you for taking charge of returning tables, collecting overnight donations, and still being fully present throughout the three days. Your help ensured everything ran smoothly.

To Sheila

For keeping the sorting area moving, organised, and on track for the entire event — thank you. We know your feet must have been throbbing by the end, but your efforts made an enormous difference.

To Bess

Who organised it all in the background. She liaises with Tesco and sorts the rota – organising all the volunteers rota is a mammoth task!

To Judianne

Our Tesco champion who is without a doubt brilliant!

Our clients may not always have the chance to express their gratitude directly to every volunteer, but we see firsthand just how much your efforts mean. Thanks to you — and to the generosity of the Widnes community — many families will receive emergency food parcels at a time of year when they are needed most.

Thank you all for making this collection such a remarkable success.
